International Students
ICS welcomes and encourages international applicants. Details on how to study at ICS as an international student in Canada follow below. If you have any further questions, please fill out our online inquiry form or contact Jeffrey Hocking at jeffreyh@icscanada.edu

Persons from a country other than Canada must meet Canadian Immigration and Customs regulations for entrance into Canada. To obtain a student visa, a person must have a letter of acceptance as a full-time student at ICS and have proof of financial independence, such as a letter from a bank or a letter from a person or institution who will assume financial responsibility. For details, please visit Citizenship and Immigration Canada.

Update (June 4, 2014): The Canadian federal government is changing the regulations for student visas. The new regulations came into effect June 1st, 2014. Details about the changes can be found on the CIC website.

These changes should not negatively impact international Junior Members. In fact, the changes may help streamline the application process and ICS Junior Members will be eligible to find off-campus employment (up to 20 hours per week during the academic session and full-time during scheduled breaks). This is a significant shift, as ICS Junior Members were previously prohibited from finding any employment off-campus.

ICS is a designated educational institution within the International Student Program, please contact jeffreyh@icscanada.edu for the institutional code or search Citizenship and Immigration Canada's list.

English Language Proficiency Requirements

An applicant whose native language is not English must show evidence of competence to study and write in English at an advanced level. Such an applicant must submit the results of the TOEFL test. This test may be acquired from Educational Testing Services, Princeton, New Jersey USA (www.toefl.org). Applicants must write the code number 9541 directly on their TOEFL exam for the test score to be mailed to ICS.

Due to the academic rigour involved in program studies at ICS, an applicant must exceed a minimum score of 100 on the internet-based TOEFL test (equivalent to a score of 250 on the computer-based or 600 on the paper-based tests).
