Institute for Christian Studies 45th Annual Ontario Conference

November 15, 2003 NEW DATE!
Redeemer University College, Ancaster, Ontario

To love or not to love: that is the question.

Open hearts, or hearts that are closed, disengaged, troubled and joyless. Connecting and reconnecting with our authentic selves, others, creation and God – the healing of our hearts – is a journey that is an awesome dance in which we are caught up in the flow of God's love.

Join us for a new one-day format, with keynote speaker Jim Olthuis, therapist and Senior Member in Philosophical Theology at ICS as we explore this topic.

Keynotes

Morning Keynote

Despite unparalleled growth in almost every area of human endeavor, there has not been parallel growth in our ability to know ourselves and to get along. Individually and societally, we still suffer a loss of soul characterized by anxieties, addictions, depressions, loneliness. Using his new book The Beautiful Risk: A New Psychology of Loving and Being Loved, Jim will lead conferees to celebrate together the healing of wounds as an emotional-spiritual process we journey on together, in the hope that God will bring healing that allows us to find our passion, our authentic self.

Jim Olthuis is professor of philosophical theology at the Institute for Christian Studies and a psychotherapist in private practice. He has written numerous articles and books, including I Pledge You My Troth, Keeping Our Troth and The Beautiful Risk. Jim is a grandfather who roller blades to work.
