Advancement Assistant

Position Description 

The Advancement Assistant will play a key role in supporting the Institute’s strategic plans by providing administrative support to events, community engagement initiatives, and donor and student database management.

Reporting to the Director of Advancement, the Advancement Assistant will provide support in all aspects of fund development, with an emphasis on coordinating new and existing events, supporting the development of print and online fundraising materials, maintaining the donor management database, and recruitment and stewardship of new and current donors and students.

Responsibility
  • Positively communicate to the community of ICS supporters and students the vision of the Institute for Christian Studies at every opportunity
  • Provide administrative support in the identification, solicitation, and stewardship of new and existing donors, and in the recruitment of new students
  • In coordination with the Communications Coordinator, assist in the development of fundraising and recruitment promotional content for print, website, emails, and social media channels
  • Assist in the planning, promotion, and execution of ICS’s fundraising and recruitment events
  • In coordination with the Donor Relations Manager, assist with all donor acknowledgement activities, including timely oral and written communication to donors, receipting, maintaining accurate donor records, and reports
  • In coordination with the Academic Registrar, assist in the recruitment of new students, in particular, the timely response to student enquiries
  • Attend internal staff meetings and staff training as required
  • Strictly maintain the confidentiality of all donor and student information
  • Other duties as required from time to time
Commitments and Competencies
  • Post-secondary education in fundraising, education, or a related field
  • 2-3 years experience in using fundraising or other contact management databases and managing relationships and events
  • Comfortable with building relationships with donors and students
  • Ability to work independently, manage a variety of tasks concurrently, and perform well under pressure
  • Competency with Microsoft Office software (specifically Word and Excel) and familiarity with Google Suite products and Zoom platform
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy in data entry
  • Proactive team player, flexible and self-motivated
  • Sound judgment, tact, and ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Knowledge of the Christian graduate education sector would be an asset
Position Status

This position is part-time, 3 days per week. Currently, ICS staff are working remotely. The start date for the successful candidate is expected to be July 2, 2021.
