ICS President Resigns
On June 16 the Board accepted with sadness a letter of resignation from Dr. John Suk. After two years of service in the position of President of ICS, Suk would like to serve in a position that allows him to make fuller use of his special gifts: preaching, teaching, and writing.
During the two years of Suk's presidency, ICS staff, faculty, and students have worked together to achieve some very positive results: more than twenty Junior Members have graduated, some excellent new faculty members have come on board, and ICS has balanced its budgets for the past two years. Suk also worked with a team to craft a new strategic plan.
Board Chair Simon Frankruyter said that "as difficult as these transitions can be, they are also great opportunities to engage in self-examination and new initiatives."
Frankruyter cited two key Board decisions that will help ICS move forward: one is a commitment to strike a Strategic Committee for Finances and the other is a decision to hire a Director of Finance and Administration. For the shorter term, the Board has also decided to seek an interim leader until a presidential search comes to a successful conclusion. In the meantime, Suk has agreed to stay on temporarily at ICS to help with transitional issues.
